Deval Patrick has signed legislation that bans people from entering the United States from six states including Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Vermont.
The restrictions are in place from March 3, and will go into effect on March 4.
The US Supreme Court on Friday upheld a lower court’s decision to allow the travel restrictions to go into place.
The governor, in a statement, said the ban is needed to protect the health and safety of our citizens.
“The US Constitution and Bill of Rights require that we have a system of checks and balances in order to keep our nation safe, and it is imperative that the people of Massachusetts remain secure and secure in their daily lives,” Mr Patrick said.
“In our effort to protect Massachusetts residents from terrorist attacks, we are imposing an unprecedented and unprecedented set of restrictions on the people and goods of the United State.”‘
Extreme vetting’Mr Patrick said the bill was “designed to ensure that we can safely vet the incoming population into our nation”.
“It will also be used to screen individuals who come to the Commonwealth on visas or temporary residence visas to determine whether they will be able to continue their education or careers in our state and country, and to assess the extent to which they are likely to commit violent acts against others,” he said.
Mr Patrick added that the new measures are designed to prevent the spread of terrorism.
“These measures will ensure that our state remains an open and welcoming place to live and work, and that we will not be the target of terrorist attacks,” he added.’
Massachusetts should be proud’The bill was signed by Governor Deval and will take effect immediately.
Mr President, I have signed legislation to prohibit all individuals from entering or remaining in the United Kingdom from March 5.
Governor Devel Patrick has also signed the legislation.
Massachusetts, the home state of US President Donald Trump, is one of the top states in the country for immigrants, with a population of nearly 20 million.
Its capital, Boston, was named the city of the future in a report by a Boston 2024 think tank.
It is home to more than 80,000 students, more than 70,000 college students and nearly 4,000 universities.
The Boston 2024 report also identified Boston as the most welcoming city in America for people from Middle Eastern and North African backgrounds.
“I have a great feeling that the Boston 2024 will have a huge impact in Massachusetts,” Mr Trump said on Tuesday.
“You know, they should be so proud.
They should be in Massachusetts.”‘
It’s not going to stop us’: GovernorDeval Patrick speaks at a news conference after signing the bill into law, on March 5, 2017 in Boston.
The bill states that anyone arriving by sea, land or air from any of the six states will be banned from entering.
It will take at least two weeks for the ban to take effect, meaning people with visas from one of those states will have to apply for entry and travel documents from another state to be eligible for a visa.
“While we do not have a specific deadline set by law, we will continue to work with our federal partners to expedite the review of those individuals applying for visas,” Mr President, Mr President I have asked the Department of Homeland Security to expeditiously complete the review and expedite expedited visas for all individuals entering the US from the six countries.
The new measures apply to people who are in transit through ports of entry in the US and those who have been in transit from the states for at least five days.
They also apply to anyone who entered the US without a visa or other documentation, as well as those who were already in the countries they were trying to enter.
“This legislation will make it easier for people to enter the United US legally, and I applaud the governor for signing this legislation,” Senator Elizabeth Warren, a Democrat from Massachusetts, said in a news release.
“Passing the Boston-Boston Declaration would make our country safer, and make the US stronger as a world leader in global leadership.”
It is important that we protect the lives and safety that our citizens and their families have to lead in our shared country, so that we don’t have to choose between safety and freedom.”‘
I think we’re on the right track’: US PresidentDonald Trump speaks to reporters at the White House after signing into law the ‘Massachusetts’ travel restrictions in Boston, Massachusetts, on April 11, 2017.
The ban does not apply to business or educational visitors from the US, or anyone with a visa from the other six countries who already have permission to enter or remain.
The legislation does allow people to be turned away at airports and to be charged higher fees for travel.”
There’s nothing that can stop me from being here and working in Boston,” Mr Johnson told reporters in Boston on Wednesday.”
We’re very much focused on ensuring that Massachusetts is a
