The UK Travel Agency is investigating after an online ad for a travel backpack from the US was spotted, asking for a £500 deposit for the bag.

The ad states that the backpack is a good quality and it will fit all the bags you have on your travel.

But the company is not a UK travel agency, so the advert could be seen as misleading.

Travel backpack prices in the UK have increased dramatically since the Brexit vote, with the average price for a London-bound London-to-Manchester-bound ticket from January 2017 rising by 12% to £4,400.

But travel is expensive in the US, with a single American-bound travel backpack costing $3,500 (or £1,000).

A backpack from China could also be seen on the advert.

But it is unclear if the backpack advertised by the US travel agency is a genuine international travel product, or just an attempt to fool customers into buying the backpack.

It is possible the UK Travel Agent is just trying to boost sales of its own travel products, and has not noticed the US ad was suspicious.

But there is no indication that the advert has been noticed by the UK agency.

What does it mean for travellers?

The UK travel advisory, published in February, advises travellers to “exercise caution when using a travel bag, as it is often subject to high price increases”.

The advisory also warns travellers to consider using “the proper credit card or payment methods when purchasing items such as a travel kit”.

What are the consequences of misleading ads?

The travel advisory recommends that travellers avoid using a backpack advertised in the advertisement as the seller will charge a premium for the item and may charge extra for it being returned.

“The best way to avoid misleading and potentially deceptive advertisements is to only buy from trusted brands and reputable sellers,” the advisory reads.

It adds: “Travelers should also be aware of the risks of using a product advertised in a travel advert and that they should be aware that products advertised on the internet may not be authentic.”
